We rest on Thee, our Shield and our Defender!
We go not forth alone against the foe;
Strong in Thy strength, safe in Thy keeping tender,
We rest on Thee, and in Thy Name we go.
Yes, in Thy Name, O Captain of salvation!
In Thy dear Name, all other names above;
Jesus our Righteousness, our sure Foundation,
Our Prince of glory and our King of love.
We go in faith, our own great weakness feeling,
And needing more each day Thy grace to know:
Yet from our hearts a song of triumph pealing,
“We rest on Thee, and in Thy Name we go.”
We rest on Thee, our Shield and our Defender!
Thine is the battle, Thine shall be the praise;
When passing through the gates of pearly splendor,
Victors, we rest with Thee, through endless days.
- Edith G. Cherry (sung to the tune of Finlandia by Jean Sibelius)
Last week was quite challenging - physically and otherwise, not least because we had George and Drena's 50th wedding anniversary event. Photos of that to follow.
At the start of the week, however, on my drive home from Bible study, the gorgeously rich Finlandia came on the radio. It made me think of this hymn, which then continuously came to mind through the week as I fumbled along, feeling great weakness, in need of great grace.
I hope this jubilant song blesses you today.

It did! Thanks for passing on the blessing. :)
Beautiful!
Indeed we rest on Him and when all is said and done, we will find Him sufficient! May He give you strength, dear one!
Love from us.
Michael & Angeley, so good to hear from you - it's been a while. Hope you are all well. xx
