John and his wife Gwenda have been good friends of my family for quite a number of years. John was one of my most faithful sources of encouragement in the run-up and during my time with AIDSLink. His heart for God and missions is evident to all who meet him. A much beloved member of the team here at Forest Hill, I'm privileged to call him a friend.
Some of you will know that John has been battling cancer for many years. At this point, it is quite advanced. Usually an extremely active and energetic person, his mobility is now significantly impaired, and he is in considerable pain. In the midst of this, you won't hear a word of complaint cross his lips. Amazingly, when I spoke to him this morning, he sounded typically bouyant and described himself as 'at peace'.
Understandably, his wife Gwenda is finding these circumstances difficult, and she too has health challenges. Please join me in prayer for this wonderful couple.
