My mother came across a tub of dulce de leche that my dad had brought from his last trip to Brazil, bringing to mind to this scruptious treat that we used to have often when the ship was in Latin America, and dulce de leche was readily available. This particular recipe was given to us by a lady in Argentina...
1 cup flour
1 cup oats
¾ cup brown sugar
½ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
¾ cup butter
1 cup dark chocolate chips
½ cup chopped nuts
¾ cup dulce de leche (a basic recipe, just in case you want to make your own)
Mix flour, oats, sugar, baking soda, salt and butter well. Pat half the mixture into a well-greased baking tin. Spread the dulce de leche evenly over that. Sprinkle the chocolate and nuts evenly on top. Top with remaining oaty mixture. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30 minutes. Cut into squares, and leave to cool. Make yourself a pot of tea, curl up with a good movie, and polish off the lot (ok, maybe not the whole lot...).

how about meeting up sometime for an afternoon of baking (this recipe sounds particularly yummy!), that pot of tea, and a nice movie?
Sorry I didn't let you know sooner when we were in London the other day... must plan better for next time!
