Over the Easter weekend we received news that Ami, the 16-year-old son of a prominent Christian pastor, David Ortiz, was seriously wounded by a bomb concealed in a Purim basket in Ariel, Israel.

Despite the force of the explosion and the extent of Ami’s injuries, the
Ortiz family is thankful for the Lord’s protection from greater harm. Even
the doctors acknowledged that there had been many miracles: His left eye is
okay, his legs weren’t broken, there was no damage to the optic nerve, vital
internal organs weren’t damaged, and there was no brain damage.
Contrary to reports in the media, Ami has not lost any limbs nor has he
undergone eye surgery. He did lose a few toes.
Ami has extensive shrapnel wounds on all parts of his body. He is expected
to remain in intensive care for approximately two weeks.
Please specifically pray for the Lord’s healing of:
- His right eye: The doctors will wait a few days before deciding
whether to operate. In the meantime, please pray for his eye to heal.
- The second and third degree burns on his stomach and chest. Please
pray for protection from infection.
- The wounds on both thighs: These are the worst wounds.
- The wounds on both arms.
- An injured lung.
Please pray that the Lord’s will give Ami special strength and comfort when
he wakes up in a few days. Until then, Ami is being kept heavily sedated.
Thank you for ongoing intercession for Ami’s life and healing and for your
ongoing prayers and support for his entire family.
