Every Tuesday, a group of older ladies meet in a local church. They call themselves Women's Own, and my mother goes along to help our friend Mary, who leads it. Several of these ladies really don't have many other social events, so they really value these get-togethers.

Anyways, the group had broken up for the summer, but several expressed a desire to still meet, so my mother organised a tea party at our house this Tuesday. Unfortunately, it was scheduled on the 2nd hottest day of the year so several didn't make it, but those that did come seemed to have a wonderful time. We sipped tea and iced drinks, and nibbled cakes, fruit, jellies, and other goodies in the sweltering heat, all the while chatting in very loud voices so that everyone could hear. It was fantastic.

Irene, who had been a missionary in Sardinia for many years with her husband, told several accounts of God's faithfulness and provision, which was just so inspiring and encouraging. We then discussed everything from the quickest bus routes, to the horrors of modern music in churches today! I then was able to show them a little DVD on HIV/AIDS (see above!) and share a little about what I hope to do from September. Irene led us in the song 'Give Thanks', and then we had a time of prayer. It was so moving to watch these beautiful, godly ladies pray! What a blessing that afternoon was!
